| Allen County Education Partnership was
established in 1991 to offer educators and business leaders an
opportunity to work together to encourage educational reform and
innovation in public schools.

For the past seventeen years, our primary programs
have been our early literacy initiative, Project READS (Reading,
Early Assistance in Developing Skills), and our parent outreach,
Parent Literacy Enrichment. Project READS provides services for
kindergarten through third grade students who are reading below
grade level. The program involves community volunteers as tutors
for these young students, often on a one-on-one basis. Parent
Literacy Enrichment provides instructional workshops for parents,
offering them techniques and strategies for
developing their child's language arts skills at home.
Allen County Education Partnership also works
to strengthen both academic and societal communities through
programs such as the ITT Excellence in Education Award and Tools for
Teachers. The ITT award provides funds for unique school projects in
science, technology, and mathematics. Tools for Teachers is a free
store that distributes school and office supplies to area teachers.
A promising future depends on an awareness of
educational needs and actions to meet those needs. Allen County
Education Partnership is dedicated to focusing its resources to
those ends.
